Jef With One F

We are big fans of the reality TV show "The Bachelorette".  It was on early this summer and we were all routing for the Utah boy Jef Holm.  During and after the show Lauren kept talking about Jef and how she would love to meet him and that she was going to meet him one day.  She has a "slight" crush on him. Well, thanks to Instagram and Twitter, word got out that Jef Holm was golfing at the Logan Golf and Country Club.  Lauren went over there with some friends and got there right as he was getting back to the clubhouse from golfing all day.  She was able to meet him and get a picture. She was so happy and excited and actually told him when getting ready to take a picture, "I think I might die".  He laughed at her and took the picture.  She later posted this picture on Instagram with the caption: I just met Jef Holm. I can die happy now!  So Jef, if it doesn't work out with you and Emily, come back to Logan!

The End of Summer 2012

This summer has been a good one.  We have had a lot of fun, and have tried to stay cool in this heat. Drake has really grown up a lot these last few months. He talks non stop and says the funniest things.  He is so proud of his baby sister Stella and has been a pretty good helper to Mom.  Stella is a really good baby.  She just goes with the flow most of the time. She is a happy baby, and doesn't really cry unless she is hungry and because of that we have been able to have a fun summer and be on the go most of the time.

Sonic Happy Hour has been our best friend this summer.  Drake loves the limeades, and you know me I love a big ice cold diet coke!

A couple of weekends ago we went down to Salt Lake City for the weekend.  My dad was in charge of a bike race Saturday morning.  We all went down Friday afternoon and while Josh and my dad did bike race stuff Lauren, my mom, the kids and I went school shopping for Lauren at City Creek.  Josh took Drake for part of the day so it left just the girls shopping.  Stella loved riding in her stroller and hanging out with the girls.

Stella absolutely LOVES my mom's shoulder.  Seriously every time my mom holds her she is asleep within minutes.

Lauren and I bought matching hats at Aldo.  We also both wore those hats around City Creek. We probably looked ridiculous with matching hats, but so what!

Later that night we went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and then met up with everyone else at the hotel.  The next morning everyone except my mom, the kids and me went and helped at the bike race.  My mom was sick the whole night so wasn't up for doing anything on Saturday.  She stayed in her room and the kids and I went swimming, and took a good long nap.

Saturday night we went to "Wicked".  It was amazing.  I loved it so much I could have watched it again right after it was over.  My dad had already seen it, so he stayed at the hotel with the kids and brought Stella over at intermission so I could feed her.  It was a fantastic night, and very fun!

I loved staying in hotels when I was little.  It didn't matter if we were far away on vacation or just in Salt Lake, it was always a blast.  I enjoyed swimming, continental breakfasts, and sleeping in.  It is so much fun to now have a family of my own to create the same memories for them.

We forgot Drakes "dee deee" (blanket) at home so he asked if he could use one of Stella's. Cute little stinker!

We have played a lot at Grandpa and Grandma's house this summer.  Drake loves going up there and always gets plenty of attention when he does.

Josh took his two girls on a date to Bear Lake to Pickleville Playhouse.  We went over there for dinner and then went and saw the hilarious show "Juanito Bandito". I seriously was so funny and so much fun to go on a date just the two of us (and Stella).

I have been working on a lot of fun sewing projects this summer, therefore I have been to the Quilt Shop, Bernina, Hobby Lobby, and  Joann's quite a bit.  As I was looking around the other day I turned my head to find Drake like this on the floor.  He is a trooper!

Stella had to get her 4 month immunizations the other day so we decided to get all of the shots done at once and Drake and I got flu shots while we were there.  Drake knew he was getting a shot, but didn't necessarily know what to expect.  I told him it would sting and hurt a little but that it was fast and it would go away.  He didn't put up a fight at all he sat there and let the nurse give him the shot.  I was expecting a loud scream and lots of tears, but there was none of that.  He gave me a look like "Wow that really hurt" and then said to the nurse "Ok, are we done now?"  He was so brave and tried so hard not to cry.  Even thought I would have been fine with him crying, I was so proud of him that he didn't throw a huge fit!

Stella has just been cute all summer long, and we have really enjoyed being able to take her outside and not have to worry about bundling her up.

We went to our first football game of the season.  Lauren is a cheerleader for Logan High so we put on our Crimson and Gold and went to watch her cheer and watch the Grizzlies play football.

Last Saturday my friends and I rented out "My Girlfriend's Attic" for a sewing day.  It was so much fun. We had the place from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It was a great day for us to get away from the house and spend time together doing something we love to do.  We all got a lot finished, laughed a lot, and snacked a lot.

Due to nursing...this little munchkin tagged a long and really was great the whole day.

Stella has started to eat Solids.  She absolutely hates them, but we are trying one day at a time to get her to like them. I even tried putting sugar in her rice cereal and it didn't work!  Now that school has started and summer is over I am really looking forward to cooler weather and fall activities.

Oregon Beach House

A couple of weeks ago we went to Oregon for my cousin Ben's wedding and a family reunion.  Everyone drove except Lauren, Stella and Me. We left the next day and they all picked us up in Portland.  Pretty lucky huh?!

Stella did great on her first plane ride.  She didn't cry once and slept the whole time.

After they picked us up at the airport we drove to Corvallis Oregon where my Uncle Wade and his family live and where the wedding was.  We went to a dinner at their house and all of the kids played.  It was a lot of fun!

The next day was the wedding. It was such a beautiful day and the wedding was so nice.  Ben married a girl named Julia who is so darling and they both look so happy.

Ben watching his bride walk down the isle.

My cousin Angela and her boyfriend Kyle.

After the wedding we drove to the coast to Lincoln City to a beach house that my grandparents rented for our family reunion.  We were in shock when we pulled up and all of us were so excited that this was where we were going to be spending the next 4 days. There was so much to do just in the house alone.  It had a huge movie theater, games, beach cruisers, hot tub, the beach was a short walk away, and house full of people to do all of it with.

Stella was held the entire time we were there.  She got so spoiled!  She slept great though at night and was so good the whole time.

When Josh and I were in Oregon a few years ago when I was pregnant with Drake we wrote a message to Drake in the sand and took a picture.  This trip we wrote one to Stella on the same beach.

One of the days we played on the beach. The water was absolutely freezing, but it was still fun to play on the sand.

Singing some songs while Kyle played on the guitar.

We did some family pictures while we were there. They turned out so cute.  They were fun to do because of all of the cool scenery and beach houses.  Also we could just dress really casual and they turned out great!

Drake was not very cooperative.

The last day we were there we went to Newport for lunch at Mo's. they have the best Clam Chowder.  After we ate we walked around the shops, went and watched some crab fishermen, and bought lots of yummy salt water taffy.

Grandpa and Grandma with every grandchild except Ben and Julia who were on their honeymoon.

This trip was so much fun and voted by everyone the best family reunion so far.  We had so much fun just hanging out together and strengthening relationships.  We are so blessed to have each other and belong to such a great family.  I am grateful for my grandparents that they provided us with such a fun thing to do together.
