Shredder

"Congrats to Ash and Josh for the news of the new baby boy :) I´m gonna have a nephew! I´m not sure if I have any say for the name but my picks are Butch, Shredder...or MasterChief! I WILL NOT have a wimpy nephew! :)"

This is part of my little brother's e-mail to us on Monday. The names are good, but I don't think that we will be naming this little guy any of those.  But, because we don't have a name for him right now, we have just been calling him Shredder. I thought I better post about this, because as of right now that is his name! 

Miss Crafty

I have heard from a lot of people that I am going to want a sling when the baby gets here. I can see that they would be very useful, but they are really expensive for a small piece of fabric. I searched everywhere online for ones that were cute, safe and reasonable in price. I had no luck. So.... I have a sewing machine now, why not make one!  

I couldn't tell how it would feel with a baby in it. My baby consisted of hand towels and dish rags.  I need to get my hands on a doll, to test this thing out.  I like it cause it is tight and the baby will be able to be very close to me.

Baby Bump!

I have really been putting off taking any type of pictures of my tummy. But I figured that I will want to go back and see my growth, so I decided to start doing a picture every week. This is the first one I have done at 16 weeks!

St. George

We enjoyed a beautiful Memorial weekend in St. George. We went with Josh's sister Robin and her family, and his brother Brad came out from North Carolina.  We had a great time! We of course spent time at the pool, the kids loved this and lets be honest so did I.  I am always up for a good tan, (and I needed it, my sister told me I was so white, I was see through).  She is so good for my self esteem :)  Another important thing when in St. George, is the places you eat and we hit all the popular ones: In & Out, The Pizza Factory, and Nielsen's Frozen Custard!  We also were able to go to the outlets, where we found some cute stuff for the kids and I even bought something for little shredder.  On Sunday we went to church and went to the Red Rocks where we hiked around and enjoyed the pretty view. We played some Back Alley, and Ted won, it really should have been me, but Robin got me on one last board!  We had such a great time this weekend and it was so fun to spend time with family. Thank you Barb and Syd for the great place to stay in St. George!

We went to this fun park that had a splash pad, and lots of different small waterfalls and rocks with a small river running through it. All of us just got our feet wet, but Logan lasted with that about a minute and... well you can see in the picture he was soaked.

It's a Boy!

It's a Boy! We are so excited. I now get to prepare myself for sports, dirt, bugs, animals, boogers, farts, trains, dinosaurs, swords, guns, tree houses, and well..... whatever those little boys like to do. I have to say I am excited for all of that! I didn't think that shopping for a little boy would be as fun.... ha ha oh I was wrong! I think because I LOVE to shop, it doesn't matter what I am shopping for, I can ALWAYS find something I like. So... we went to Fetal Fotos in Salt Lake. They will tell you the gender of your baby at 15 weeks (I was just a few days over). And if you know me, you know that I am not very patient and this was a must for me. This little guy was VERY proud of his gender! He was giving us all sorts of shots and he is definitely not shy. I actually saw that it was a boy before the ultrasound technician could tell us, and I would give anything to have a picture of the look on Josh's face when he heard he was going to be the daddy of a little boy! He was so proud. We both are so happy to have this little guy be a part of our family!

This one is hard to see, but he has his ankles crossed.  His legs are wide spread and the round part is his belly. Again.... a great shot of his boy part!  This one is funny to me, because when Josh is just hanging out on the couch this is EXACTLY how he lays. 

During the ultrasound he was moving a lot. They gave us a video, which is fun to have and go back and watch. This little guy loves to suck his fingers and thumb. Because of me working for a Dentist, I have seen what thumb sucking can do. So.... I don't want a thumb sucker, but right now he can suck that little thumb as much as he wants!

Shelley would be so proud!

There are a lot of people around me that are talented in the sewing area! I have watched my grandma, able to mend anything I bring to her, and have thought many times I really need to learn to do this, but haven't done anything about it. A few months ago I was at my mom's friend Shelley's house and saw some of the quilts that she has done. WOW! My friend Hayley has made the cutest things for her little girl Grace, and for herself. Well I was sick of just wishing I could do that, and I did something about it and asked for a sewing machine for my birthday! Thank you to my Mom and Dad I got one, and thanks to Hayley for getting me involved with a project that her and some girls from her ward are doing. We are making quiet books and they are so cute! It has been a lot of work, and Hayley has really had to help me, but it has been so much fun! So... like the gals I mentioned before.... I too want to be able to sit down and make anything I want! Like the title of this post says... Shelley you would be so proud, I am learning to sew and have a new fetish for material! I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive hobby!

Goodbye Roxy!!

My Aunt Holly bought a dog a few months back for her family. She was a puppy and her name was Roxy. She was really cute, but like I said was a puppy and not trained. Well after months of Holly taking care of the dog, and cleaning up after the messes it made, she realized that this purchase was a bad idea. Her two girls Hannah and Elli loved her, so Holly had a hard time getting rid of it. Well it didn't take to long and Holly was trying anything to get the girls to let her sell this dog. She found a way! They agreed to sell the dog if they could take the money and have a "girl's trip" to Salt Lake and stay in a hotel, go shopping, swim in a pool, and go to Build a Bear (the kind of pets Holly likes.) So.... this is what we did, and we had so much fun. So off to Salt Lake we went, my aunt Holly and her two girls, my mom, and me! Lauren didn't want to go, so I called my friend Mary that lives in Provo and she came along with us. The girls wanted to go to dinner Friday night somewhere "Fabulous" so we went to Macaroni Grill. They thought that was very fancy! Then the best part of the whole trip.... swimming at the hotel. That night we stayed up and talked and laughed really hard. Those little girls are really funny and are so fun to be around. The next day we ate breakfast at the hotel, then went shopping! That is what we did all day. We found lots of cute things and the girls got to Build a Bear! We worked those little girls all day shopping. At the end of the day on the way home, Elli was asleep in no time! This weekend was a blast and something that I think we need to make a tradition! I love my family so much and am so grateful I belong to a fun one! So..... Thank you Roxy, for a great weekend in Salt Lake. I hope you like your new home!

Best Birthday Gift Ever

So, if you know me, you know that I like a clean house. You may also know, that I LOVE to vacuum! There is nothing better than streaks in the carpet from a fresh vacuuming job. Seriously, I am obsessed with it. It is a quick way to have your house look spotless even if it isn't. So.... the vacuum that I have been using, is really old and seriously it is like pushing my fridge around the house. It is so heavy! But it has worked and I have dealt with it. So without me even asking, Josh got me a new vacuum for my birthday. It is so nice! Thank you Josh for looking out for me, you're the best!

Girl's Night

Look at my beautiful friends! We had a baby shower for my friend Annie, who is expecting a little boy! We got together with a group of us that have been friends for a long time. We went to Hamilton's and had dinner. We were there for 3 hours! We had so much fun, and laughed pretty hard. It felt good! This night was something we all needed! Thanks Jacque for putting this together!

Mothers Day

Yesterday was a great day, we got to talk to my little brother James on his mission in the DR. It was so fun to talk to him and to hear his voice! He has not had any water for 2 weeks, so he has to shower and do dishes with a bucket. His words were "The showering part is easy, doing the dishes is hard." So if you think like me, that sounds a little backwards, but he says that the doing the dishes in a bucket is a lot harder than showering :) He only has electricity sometimes, and he said when he steps into the shower he has to get rid of at least one frog or lizard! I really don't think I would do very well in his shoes! He is a trooper. He sounded so happy and is loving his mission. I am a very proud big sister and of course I cried the whole 4o min we talked to him. He bore his testimony in Spanish, and after only being gone 4 months he sounded like a pro to me. Talking to him was the highlight of my whole week. It is amazing how having a missionary out, really blesses your whole family!

Reality Check!

So I only have one pair of dressy pants to wear to work! Well... those one pair are starting to get a little tight. When I sit down they are so uncomfortable, so...maternity pants it is. Trying them on was quite frightening, and it didn't help that my mom was laughing so hard she had tears rolling down her cheeks! Well the outcome of this crazy adventure is I walked away with 3 new pairs of pants...3 new pairs of maternity pants!!

This baby is a little stinker!

My mom has always said..."Ashley, I hope you get a child just like you!" I have either ignored it, or thought to myself... oh that wouldn't be that bad! HA HA HA Yeah Right! This baby is a little stinker! It is seriously kickin my butt and sucking the life right out of me. I guess my mom's wish is coming true.... I am having a baby just like me. YIKES!

Baby Wood

We had our first Dr. appointment on Monday! We had an ultrasound and got to see our cute baby! It was so amazing what you can see, and how much it has grown in the last couple of months. It truly is an amazing process! Everything looked good. There is only one baby, it had two arms and legs, a face and a heart beat! The heart rate was 160 bpm. We left the Dr's office feeling pretty proud of ourselves! My favorite picture is the one where you can see the cute little hand up by its face! Now we have to wait 8 weeks to find out if we are having a boy or a girl.

We are going to have a baby!!

So when I found out that I was pregnant, (after taking 4 pregnancy tests) I was home cause it was my day off, and Josh was at work. I wanted to call him right away, and just start screaming on the phone, but I decided it would be fun to tell him in a fun way. He was not expecting it, and I knew I could really surprise him! So I went to the store and bought the cutest onesies! Buying those, was more fun than a new outfit for myself (and I love getting new clothes.) Earlier that day Josh had helped me get a resume ready, so I had a great reason to get him something to say thanks! I wrapped up the onesies and the pregnancy test, and had it waiting when he got home from work. He was surprised and excited enough to find a present waiting for him. When he realized what was in there, the look on his face was priceless. There is nothing like really surprising someone! It was one of the happiest days of our lives!
