The End of Summer 2012

This summer has been a good one.  We have had a lot of fun, and have tried to stay cool in this heat. Drake has really grown up a lot these last few months. He talks non stop and says the funniest things.  He is so proud of his baby sister Stella and has been a pretty good helper to Mom.  Stella is a really good baby.  She just goes with the flow most of the time. She is a happy baby, and doesn't really cry unless she is hungry and because of that we have been able to have a fun summer and be on the go most of the time.

Sonic Happy Hour has been our best friend this summer.  Drake loves the limeades, and you know me I love a big ice cold diet coke!

A couple of weekends ago we went down to Salt Lake City for the weekend.  My dad was in charge of a bike race Saturday morning.  We all went down Friday afternoon and while Josh and my dad did bike race stuff Lauren, my mom, the kids and I went school shopping for Lauren at City Creek.  Josh took Drake for part of the day so it left just the girls shopping.  Stella loved riding in her stroller and hanging out with the girls.

Stella absolutely LOVES my mom's shoulder.  Seriously every time my mom holds her she is asleep within minutes.

Lauren and I bought matching hats at Aldo.  We also both wore those hats around City Creek. We probably looked ridiculous with matching hats, but so what!

Later that night we went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and then met up with everyone else at the hotel.  The next morning everyone except my mom, the kids and me went and helped at the bike race.  My mom was sick the whole night so wasn't up for doing anything on Saturday.  She stayed in her room and the kids and I went swimming, and took a good long nap.

Saturday night we went to "Wicked".  It was amazing.  I loved it so much I could have watched it again right after it was over.  My dad had already seen it, so he stayed at the hotel with the kids and brought Stella over at intermission so I could feed her.  It was a fantastic night, and very fun!

I loved staying in hotels when I was little.  It didn't matter if we were far away on vacation or just in Salt Lake, it was always a blast.  I enjoyed swimming, continental breakfasts, and sleeping in.  It is so much fun to now have a family of my own to create the same memories for them.

We forgot Drakes "dee deee" (blanket) at home so he asked if he could use one of Stella's. Cute little stinker!

We have played a lot at Grandpa and Grandma's house this summer.  Drake loves going up there and always gets plenty of attention when he does.

Josh took his two girls on a date to Bear Lake to Pickleville Playhouse.  We went over there for dinner and then went and saw the hilarious show "Juanito Bandito". I seriously was so funny and so much fun to go on a date just the two of us (and Stella).

I have been working on a lot of fun sewing projects this summer, therefore I have been to the Quilt Shop, Bernina, Hobby Lobby, and  Joann's quite a bit.  As I was looking around the other day I turned my head to find Drake like this on the floor.  He is a trooper!

Stella had to get her 4 month immunizations the other day so we decided to get all of the shots done at once and Drake and I got flu shots while we were there.  Drake knew he was getting a shot, but didn't necessarily know what to expect.  I told him it would sting and hurt a little but that it was fast and it would go away.  He didn't put up a fight at all he sat there and let the nurse give him the shot.  I was expecting a loud scream and lots of tears, but there was none of that.  He gave me a look like "Wow that really hurt" and then said to the nurse "Ok, are we done now?"  He was so brave and tried so hard not to cry.  Even thought I would have been fine with him crying, I was so proud of him that he didn't throw a huge fit!

Stella has just been cute all summer long, and we have really enjoyed being able to take her outside and not have to worry about bundling her up.

We went to our first football game of the season.  Lauren is a cheerleader for Logan High so we put on our Crimson and Gold and went to watch her cheer and watch the Grizzlies play football.

Last Saturday my friends and I rented out "My Girlfriend's Attic" for a sewing day.  It was so much fun. We had the place from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It was a great day for us to get away from the house and spend time together doing something we love to do.  We all got a lot finished, laughed a lot, and snacked a lot.

Due to nursing...this little munchkin tagged a long and really was great the whole day.

Stella has started to eat Solids.  She absolutely hates them, but we are trying one day at a time to get her to like them. I even tried putting sugar in her rice cereal and it didn't work!  Now that school has started and summer is over I am really looking forward to cooler weather and fall activities.
