We had a great time celebrating the 24th of July. It fell on a Wednesday and Josh didn't have to work. Drake slept at my parents Tuesday night and then we went and got him in the morning. Later that evening we met the Taylor's for dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then went down to Willow Park to look around at the booths they had down there. They had the bouncy slides for the little kids so we let them play on those for a few minutes.
Drake and Hunter got some cotton candy and loved every bite.
Later that evening we had some friends over for fireworks and treats.
The kids loved watching the fireworks and it was fun for me to watch the excitement coming from the little kids.
Josh and Landon reverted back to 12 year olds and enjoyed the fireworks more than any of the little kids. They rigged something up and shot off some pretty cool fireworks with it.
To be honest, I am surprised one of them didn't get burned!
Once it was dark we pulled out the sparklers and let the kids have fun with those for a while. We have some awesome neighbors that live close to us that came over and made the night a lot of fun!
The next morning we didn't have much planned so Drake called Aunt Lauren to come out and run through the sprinklers with him. He waited so patiently for her to get there!
Stella loves her big brother so much. She is always watching everything he does with a smile on her face and any chance she gets she is usually right by him.
Drake is an awesome big brother and went over and picked Stella up and took her through the sprinklers by himself. So dang sweet of him. My heart melted!
We love Aunt Laurley and love it when she comes to our house to play with us. She is so good to my kids and they absolutely adore her. She is my best friend and so I too adore her and love it when she hangs out with me.
Friday we hung out and went for a walk over to the Kunz's household where we mixed ourselves up a nice Dirty Diet Coke. This one was extra dirty:) We put together crushed ice, coconut flavoring, diet coke, fresh lime and some half and half. It was so delicious!! Something I will be mixing up again for sure!
Friday night we took our kids to Dan and Holly's house while we went to dinner and mini golfing with the Taylor's. We had a blast with them and when we got back our kids got in the bath and then Drake and Boston were begging for me to let Drake have a sleepover. Other than staying at Grandma Lisa's house alone, he had never had a sleepover anywhere else. He acted like he wanted to and wasn't sad to see us leave!
They laid in Boston's bed for a little while and they both got scared so they ended up sleeping in Dan and Holly's bed. I am so grateful to have so much family close by so that my kids get to have these experiences with their cousins!
Saturday Drake did not want to come home so he stayed up there for a while and then Josh went and got him, Boston and Elli and we took them with us to the Preston parade. It was an awesome parade. It was really long and they threw out a ton of candy. The kids loved it. We went with the Neil's and the Taylor's. Lauren also came with us.
After the parade we stopped in Richmond at L.D.'s Cafe to eat dinner. This place is a hole in the wall!!! It was pretty good food and an awesome memory for all of us! The kids loved sitting at a table together. Thank goodness we had Elli with us so she could keep them all in line!
We had an awesome weekend and have such awesome friends and family that made it possible!
