This winter has been a really cold one. We have had a few good snow storms allowing Drake to play in the snow, but not a lot so we have had to spend most of the cold winter days inside. Even though it is miserable outside, we have managed to have a pretty good time indoors!
Drake loves playing with his cousins! He always has so much fun and they are so good to him. My mom and I think that Drake and Emmy look and act the exact same. My mom had Emmy when she was in Nursery and Sunbeams and Drake is at that age right now. She says there are so many things that the two of them do the same. She is darling to Drake and is always willing to play with the little boys Drake and Cooper.
Drake has been able to have quite a few sleepovers at Grandpa and Grandma's house. He loves sleeping there. He gets special treatment when he stays there. Lots of treats, TV shows, movies, games on the iPad, he gets to stay up late, the pirate pillow, and Grandma lays by him until he falls asleep!
With Josh working for Larry H. Miller, we have had the opportunity to do some really fun things. One of them being that we get to go to Jazz games. Josh has been to a lot, but I have only been to one with him. We got to sit in a suite and get all of the food, dessert and drinks we could want. It was a lot of fun, and a nice free date for Josh and me.
Drake is still struggling with the idea that he is not a baby anymore. I occasionally find him trying to do the same things that Stella does. But when it comes right down to it and I talk to him about the difference between big boys and babies, he is pretty glad he is a big boy.
McDonald's play place and Chick Fil-A have been our go to places this winter. We have gone with lots of different friends and family. My mom has even come and taken Drake to go with her and her friend Shawn and her granddaughter Zoey. My friend Annie has two kids that Drake loves to play with. It works out nicely because they play and Annie and I have lots of time to chat and have some diet coke.
Stella is just happy and cute! She loves to feed herself and eats a ton...seriously this girl can eat. She is just a tiny little thing but she really knows how to pound it down!
I can't wait for summer so these cute little toes can be seen. Even though it is freezing outside, every girl needs a good pedicure every once in a while!
My kids love bath time! Sometimes I just put them in there to play. Stella loves to get in there with Drake and laughs the entire time, even when he is pouring water all over her. She loves her big brother and lights up every time she sees him. I am so happy that they love each other and that Drake is so good to her. He is a really good big brother!
I seriously am so lucky to be their mother!
With being cooped up inside means I have a lot of time to do some sewing. I have finished a lot of projects, but this is one of my favorites. I made some curtains for my family room. They were way cheaper to make than to buy and they turned out just the way I wanted them.
Even though I try to get my kids to play a lot and use their imaginations, there are also times that I need a break and need to get things done and that means we turn on the TV and Drake watches a show. Stella will even watch a show sometimes, and it is really nice to have them sit in one place for a few minutes. Drakes favorite show recently is Curious George. I often find myself stopping what I am doing and watching it because it is so dang cute... I just love that naughty monkey. I think it is because Drake looks and acts just like him!
Those eyes melt me. All she has to do is look at me and she gets what she wants... but when she cries out of those big blue eyes it is just all down hill from there and she really gets spoiled!
I went in to change a load of laundry from the wash to the dryer and when I came back Drake had water colored his sisters face!
We have had to stay bundled up because it has seriously been so dang cold.
My kids absolutely adore James and Lexi. They love going to "the apartment" (as drake calls it) to play and they both love it when they come out to our house.
This girl has some serious bed head when she wakes up in the morning.
There are some days where I have had to get creative and bring some excitement into our house because we have all been a little bored and suffering from cabin fever. The problem with this is that Drake will no longer eat a PB&J without it being in the shape of Mickey Mouse :)
Another time that I stepped out of the room for a few seconds and when I returned this is what I found. I laugh out loud every time I look at this picture. There is pure joy on both of their faces, and sweet Stella was waving at me. She loved it and both kids were laughing hysterically.
But then.... Drake does things like this to his sister that aren't so nice and she absolutely hates them! There is no joy on that face whatsoever!
Don't let the fact that he is in shorts fool you, it was freezing outside that day but he refused to wear long pants. And yes he is eating ice cream. We go through the McDonald's drive though on a daily basis for either Diet Coke or ice cream cones. YUMMY!
That would be Drake acting like Lucy and drinking the water out of the bottom of the shower at my parents house...GROSS!!
Drake has been really scared at night and wants us to lay by him until he falls asleep. It is hard when there is only one of us at home to do the bed time routine. Josh was alone this night and he had Drake come and lay on Stella's floor while he fed her bottle. When he put Stella in her bed he thought Drake would get up and follow into his room, but he was sound asleep.
This is the kind of thing that goes on at my parents house. He is crazy!
Drake with his best friend George :)
Sleeping kids are so great! There are so many things about them that I love. They are sweet, cute and very quiet. Unless you go to turn off the light and Drake is asleep with his hands down his pants and then that isn't very sweet or cute... typical boy!
So as I mentioned before, Drake is obsessed with Curious George. He watches the show all of the time and takes his Curious George with him everywhere. I told myself I would never let Drake or any of my kids take a stuffed animal or doll or whatever to church. Well I totally caved when Drake wouldn't go to sunbeams and used it as a bribe so that he would go without crying. When we went to pick him up from his class we were sent home the picture Drake colored and one for George too. Those are some good primary teachers if you ask me!
Lexi and Drake went tubing in Grandpa and Grandma's front yard. They also made snow angels. Drake thought this was so fun!
We went to Ogden to watch LHS play in the State Basketball Tournament. Drake thought it was pretty fun to watch the basketball players, and he liked watching Lauren dance and cheer. And plus, after the games we went to Lee's Mongolian BBQ for dinner and made a stop at Target.
We took Boston with us to one of the games and on our stop at Target, Drake and Boston had a little fun in the store by playing Hide and Seek. Silly boys!
I don't really know what was going on here because Lauren sent me this picture, but apparently Drake and my mom are having a serious conversation.
Another sweet moment was when we went downstairs to make a bottle and when we came back upstairs Stella was already asleep on her floor!
It is hard to see, but Drake was supposed to be taking a nap or at least be laying in bed taking a rest. When I looked at the baby monitor I couldn't see him in his bed and wondered where he was... he was sitting on his headboard singing a song!
My goal for the year of 2013 was to attend the temple at LEAST once a month. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but there are some months that have gone by so fast and we haven't been able to make it that month... so this year I wanted to change that and so far we have done awesome and have made it once a month!
And just to show how bad we want nice weather, Drake wears his sunglasses inside!
